The gelato brand was created in September 2017 by Chef and Master Gelataio Brenno Floriano, says San Lorenzo’s website:

“Floriano is considered a true innovator in the world of pastry and gelato. With a decade of professional pastry experience, including formative years at The University of Gelato in Bologna and Carpigiani Gelato University, Floriano´s creations are marked by interesting textures and thoughtful integration of savory and sweet. In 2018, with the creation of the San Lorenzo flavor, Floriano won as the best Brazilian Gelato of the Year in the Gelato Festival Challenge, chosen by technical and public jury.”

Among many flavors listed on the website are surprising Exclusive varieties like Blue cheese, Hibiscus, and Zucca Con Cocco (butternut squash & coconut). There are also flavors like Caramelo Salato, Black Forest Pie, Cioccolato con Fragola, and Dulce de Leche.

Behind San Lorenzo Gelato and Pastry LLC, which has submitted a plan review for the Sevilla Avenue location, is owner Helena Yanalunas. What Now reached out to Yanalunas on Friday to ask about the San Lorenzo opening. Yanalunas was not immediately available for comment.
