News broke earlier this year that Showa Hospitality, the company behind food and beverage concepts like Convoy Music Bar, Bistro Ocho, and Showa Ramen, had leased a space at 1211 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. Owner of The Taco Stand in Wynwood (and elsewhere), Showa was planning on launching a restaurant called Let’s Taco in the space, said coverage by Commercial Observer.

Little, if anything, has been heard about a Showa Hospitality launch at that location since—until now, as What Now has found plan review paperwork submitted by Let’s Taco, Inc. for a restaurant there. The name of the restaurant is given as “Taco Stand,” leaving some ambiguity for the moment about the location’s branding (as the “Let’s Taco” branding now appears to belong to The Taco Stand itself). It may in fact be a third South Florida outpost of The Taco Stand.
The space in question was previously occupied by Huahua’s Taqueria, which the Commercial Observer coverage says closed in November 2023.
“Originating from the lively border region of Tijuana, Aram and Julian, our founders, are two passionate culinary aficionados on a mission to capture the essence of their homeland’s flavors,” says the Taco Stand website. “Inspired by Tijuana’s bustling taco stands and their culinary adventures across the Baja Peninsula, they founded the first Taco Stand in San Diego in 2013 and are dedicated to bringing the authentic taste of Mexican food to taco enthusiasts all over America.”
What Now reached out to Showa Hospitality VP of Operations Michael Roels on Monday to inquire about plans for a new Taco Stand/Let’s Taco restaurant in Miami Beach. Roels was not immediately available for comment.
