In addition to the planned Fort Lauderdale location recently reported on by What Now, up-and-coming Wynwood-born sushi brand SushiMas is planning a slate of locations throughout South Florida. Founded in 2020 as a takeout-only concept, SushiMas has since opened a dine-in location in Aventura, is now in the process of opening a third location in Fort Lauderdale, and, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, is planning considerable expansion throughout South Florida.

What Now has been in contact with Ilan Sitt, founder of the hospitality group behind SushiMas, Sherpa Consultancy, in recent weeks. Sitt has not been available for comment on the details of these further locations and their rollout.

The Sun-Sentinel coverage names three further cities slated for SushiMas development in 2023: Kendall, Doral, and Miami Beach. It also mentions Coconut Grove and West Palm Beach as places for development a bit further out.

SushiMas’s sushi offerings include Classic Rolls like the Salmon Philadelphia Roll, the Spicy Yellowtail Roll, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll. Special Rolls include the Vibes Roll (Shrimp panko, salmon tartare mix, and Philadelphia with avocado on top, eel sauce, and sesame seeds) and the Volcano Roll, with Scottish salmon and avocado topped with salmon tartare and scallions. There are also plant-based options, for vegetarian diners looking to scratch that itch for sushi.
