The Flagler Village location, which will launch at 444 NE Seventh St, is the first of four locations from new franchisees Ed and Desirae Valentin.

“2020 was the first time we came across the brand,” Ed Valentin told What Now on Friday. “We tried it for the first time at one of the corporate shops in the Florida Panhandle.”

What followed, Valentin says, felt almost fated. The Valentins moved to San Diego, which happened to be the other American city in which Parlor was opening its corporate-owned stores. The two soon-to-be Parlor franchisees had already been looking to invest in a franchise, and a partnership with Parlor Doughnuts felt natural with such serendipity.

Serendipity—plus a product Valentin says stands out of the pack.

“It’s a kind of croissant-like dough: flaky and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. It’s an unbelievable texture.”

Parlor Doughnuts offers a selection of about 20 flavors, which have included French Toast, Maple Bacon, Peanut Butter Cup, and Churro. Because of its small size, the Flagler Village location will not offer Parlor’s food menu, sticking to its proven doughnuts and coffee.

“Barring construction delays, we’re looking at an August opening,” Valentin said.
