Malakor Thai Isaan Is Headed to Pompano Beach

Coral Gables’ Malakor Thai Isaan is preparing to expand to a second location in Pompano Beach. Malakor will offer its menu of favorites from Thai cuisine at 114 N Flagler Ave.

“Pompano is a growing city,” co-owner Edric Espinoza told What Now on Monday. “They’re into art, they’re into festivals. And we want to bring a little bit of the Thai spirit into Pompano, which is food, art, and enjoying life at the same time.”

The Malakor brand (whose name means palm tree) was born about eleven years ago in West Palm Beach, with the founding of Malakor Thai Cafe by restaurateur Billy Manthy. Malakor’s Coral Gables location offers appetizers like Grilled Pork Skewers or Isaan Sausages with peanut, ginger, and chili. Entrees include flavor profiles like Garlic Delight Sauce, Pad Cha, and Panang Curry with guests’ choice of proteins (chicken, pork, squid, beef, or shrimp).

Espinoza—who is also behind the upcoming Nour Thai Kitchen & Bar, which will offer Thai cuisine with a specific focus on dishes from the northeastern Isaan region of Thailand—says the restaurant will maintain the brand’s focus not only on serving up delicious food but on visual art as well.

“All our restaurants have hand-painted murals of Thai scenery and Thai images,” Espinoza said in another conversation with What Now last week. “We like to provide an experience of what you’re eating, not just with the food but with your surroundings and environment.”
