“This is [Shingo’s] lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant in the States,” Managing Partner Kenzie Motai told What Now on Tuesday. “Plus, the location being in the La Palma Building, being right next to Bouchon, is a great opportunity.”

Motai describes the restaurant as being built with the goal of “transporting people to Japan.” Accordingly, the restaurant’s interior was designed and constructed in Kyoto and is being disassembled, shipped to Coral Gables, and then reassembled.

“It’s going to be very unique,” Motai said. “As far as the design and aesthetic, it’s really one of a kind.”

Shingo’s menu will feature 18 courses at $180 per person, with an option for an additional beverage pairing. The space will seat fourteen people, with a constantly changing menu of nigiri, seasonal sashimi, and Yakimono dishes.

“We recognize that there are a lot of great places in Miami,” said Motai. “But that Coral Gables and Coconut Grove area is expanding very rapidly. We’re excited to be part of that growth.”

Stay up to date on Shingo’s opening (expected in Spring 2023) by following the brand on Instagram.
