Society 8, the hospitality group behind concepts like Park & Ocean and Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery in Fort Lauderdale, is preparing to launch Block 40, the first food hall in Downtown Hollywood. Opening in the bottom level of the 1818 Park building, Block 40 will be home to twelve different culinary concepts drawn from a great variety of international cuisines.

With communal seating for more than 200 people, Block 40 will use the same QR code menu system that has proved successful at Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery, allowing guests to order at their table or at a kiosk. The location will also feature a bar that operates on the same system.

In addition to the 12 individual kiosks, Block 40 will also be home to a Mexican cantina with more than 100 different tequilas, Society 8 founder Steven D’Apuzzo told What Now on Wednesday, along with a stage for live music performance.

“We’ll also do different types of interactive experiences,” D’Apuzzo said, “like chef-driven dinners, wine dinners, art installations, and other themed events.”

Block 40 is working toward an opening this September. In the meantime, you can stay up to date Block 40 news by visiting the food hall’s website. (And if you have a culinary concept you think should open there, you can make a kiosk inquiry there!)
