Chicken Kitchen Looks to Be Planning a Location in Key Biscayne

Founded by Chief Chickenologist Christian de Berdouare, the chain has locations throughout South Florida

Founded in 1985 by Chief Chickenologist Christian de Berdouare, healthy chicken chain Chicken Kitchen offers an approach to chicken that sidesteps the greasy high-calorie offerings often found in the fast-casual space. The model has worked: the brand now has more than 25 locations here in South Florida, and a recently submitted plan reviews indicates another is on the way, this time at 93 Harbor Drive #6 in Key Biscayne.

“Back in 1985, when America was still hooked on greasy hamburgers and fried food, we were one of the very few concepts nationwide to offer freshly prepared, great tasting and healthy meals, made from high quality, natural ingredients at affordable prices,” reads the Chicken Kitchen website’s Our Story page. “Nothing canned, frozen or processed, no hormones, antibiotics or GMO’s in our food. It’s either grilled, broiled or steamed, instead of being fried, reheated or microwaved.”

Chicken Kitchen’s menu features Chop-Chop bowls, Wrapitos, salads, and grilled chicken breast meals. These include the Cuban Chop-Chop (chopped chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes & black beans served over yellow rice), the Vegetarian Wrapito (lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheddar cheese & yellow rice in a tortilla), and the Chopped Chicken Breast Platter, which features chicken breast served on a platter with choice of two sides from a selection that includes Balsamic Tomatoes, Baked Sweet Plantains, and Cilantro Brown Rice.

The Harbor Drive location is a part of retail center called Harbor Plaza, located on the northwestern corner of the intersection with Crandon Boulevard. Harbor Plaza is currently home to several food and drink spots, including Donut Gallery Diner and Flour & Weirdoughs.

What Now reached out to Christian de Berdouare on Thursday. Berdouare was not immediately available for comment on a Key Biscayne Chicken Kitchen location.
