Not only is Huey Magoo’s the “filet mignon of chicken”; it’s also the official chicken tender of the Florida Panthers. The franchise recently opened its 50th store, and it has another 250 under development, franchisees Harry Dixon and Henry Dixon told What Now on Monday.

The Dixons are part of a franchise group that has been operating Dunkin’ locations for about 20 years. Huey Magoo’s caught their attention as a franchise poised for expansion.

“About six years ago I started to see the secular tailwinds for the chicken category,” Harry Dixon told What Now. “I ended up finding Huey Magoo’s after eating a lot of tenders.”

Huey Magoo’s offers its tenders in three-, five-, and seven-piece meals, served up with coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, and Magoo’s Dip. There’s also the Magoo’s Sandwich, with tenders, thick-cut dill pickles, and a drizzle of Magoo’s sauce. (It’s available with hand-breaded or grilled chicken, and also as a wrap.)

“The tenders really are the filet mignon of chicken,” Dixon said. “They are correctly named. It’s by far the best chicken tender I’ve had in my life.”

After the successful launch of the group’s first location in Miramar back in January, more are now on the way. A Huey Magoo’s will be open at the recently re-christened Amerant Bank Arena in time for hockey season, and another will open at 3800 N University Drive in Cooper City late this November. After Cooper City the next stop is Plantation, at 1816 N University Drive.
