“It’s been my dream to incorporate my Caribbean culture with my love of Asian cuisine and BBQ,” the chef said in an Instagram post by the restaurant. “Growing up on the island I always aspired to open my own restaurant with my unique vision and approach to flavor. That’s what I’m bringing to Shiso.”

The post says Shiso will offer a menu featuring “wood-fired family-style dishes, a bespoke cocktail program, and rooftop dining & nightlife experience.”

“Wynwood has been integral in my career and growth,” Sealey continues. “I intend to pay it forward and contribute to an already booming food scene by implementing the skills and utilizing them to create something uniquely expressive that characterizes me and my journey. I live by my grandfather’s words he often preached to me as a young child, ‘Forward ever, backwards never.’”

What Now reached out to Forward Hospitality Group chief operating officer Bobby Rutter on Monday to inquire about plans for Shiso’s opening. Rutter was not immediately available for comment.
