Named the best Sicilian-style pizza in Florida, by the Washington Post, local pizza brand Little Mike’s got its start a little under four years ago in North Lauderdale. Little Mike’s has since started offering its popular Sicilian pies, wings, and more at a second location in Pembroke Pines, and it’s now gearing up to launch its third pizza shop, this time at 8970 Cleary Blvd in Plantation.

“All these recipes are from New York,” owner Mike Temchuk told What Now on Monday. “My grandfather had a restaurant, and I’ve been in the restaurant business for about 30 years. I studied culinary arts at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and learned a lot of things, working at a lot of restaurants, but when the pandemic hit, things opened up for me to really do what I wanted to do.”

And that’s how Florida’s best Sicilian pizza was born. It comes in varieties like the Carnivore (pepperoni, sausage, meatball, bacon and ham), Veggie Paradise (mushroom, onions, green pepper, spinach, tomato and fresh garlic), and The Boss (green peppers, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, sausage, and anchovies [upon request]).

Also popular are Little Mike’s wings, which come in flavor profiles like Buffalo, Lemon Pepper, Sweet Chili, Thai, and the most popular “Forgetaboutit,” which features Italian herbs and spices. (“Even if you’re not Italian,” Temchuk says, “after you eat, it you’ll be Italian.”) For dessert, try the Little Mike’s smash-hit deep-fried Double Stuff Oreos wrapped in pizza dough and topped with powdered sugar.

Temchuk says Little Mike’s is planning to stay on the growth path, and after the Plantation location opens at the end of October, the plan is to launch franchising, bringing the pizza brand to the rest of Florida and beyond.
