Miami’s own Macondo Coffee Roasters has four locations in South Florida and another in Wesley Chapel, in the Tampa market. Two more are on the way: a long-awaited location in Calle Ocho, and another in Downtown Miami. Franchisee Lizzeth Benvides told What Now on Thursday that both locations are working toward an opening in April.

Benvides says she was a longtime fan of the Macondo brand before becoming a franchisee.

“I loved the comfort of the franchise, the food,” Benvides said. “I’m a coffee lover and I fell in love with the concept. So we wanted to invest in something we believe in.”

“Our beans are imported from small farms in Colombia and roasted in our Doral facility,” says the Macondo Coffee website. “We offer a varied menu featuring Latin American favorites and traditional American breakfast and lunch dishes. Our shops are gathering places where friends, family and loved ones can share a bite, create memories and enjoy a truly delicious cup of coffee.”

The Calle Ocho location will open at 2000 SW Eighth Street. Macondo Coffee Roasters Downtown will open at 240 N Miami Ave #2.
