“In a relaxed, colorful, and cheerful atmosphere, you can enjoy our full bar with Latin drinks, quality liquors, and flavors that will make you come back!” a representative told What Now in an email conversation on Tuesday.

But the news at Matilda’s Taco Bar is more than just a recent reopening. The restaurant is also launching Casa Matilda, a new lounge opening in an adjoining space.

“Casa Matilda is an upscale lounge, a hidden gem in South Beach,” the representative said. “Located in the well-known South of Fifth neighborhood, it is characterized by its warm, welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, and its striking decoration.”

Casa Matilda, which has soft-opened and is expecting a full launch by July 4, will feature “a menu full of high-quality drinks, tropical infusions, and your favorite brands of liquors,” with signature cocktails like “Cloudy with a Chance of Tipsy” and the “Mezcal Mule.” Casa Matilda will also be offering a selection of small bites and hookah. It’s open every day from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

More projects are also to come from Ohana Hostel LLC, the group behind the Matilda’s concepts. The company also appears to be at work on a restaurant at Miami Beach’s Kaskades Hotel. What Now reached out to CEO Mike O’Hana to inquire about the Kaskades project on Tuesday. O’Hana said it was too early to share information on that project.
