Playa Bowls is taking over South Florida. The chain has been growing in the area in the last year or two, and it shows no sign of stopping. Playa Bowls is now offering its popular selection of açai bowls, smoothies, and fresh juice in Stuart, at 1925 Federal Highway.

Jenna and Michael Zorn, the new franchisees behind the Stuart location, have had a successful opening and will soon launch another location, this time at 71 E Indian Town Rd in Jupiter.

“We had a line of about 100 people out front on Saturday,” Michael Zorn told What Now on Wednesday. “It went great. We did give away free bowls and t-shirts to our first fifty customers. The day had great traffic, it went smoothly, and we great feedback from the community. In the four to five days we’ve been open we’ve already had a lot of return customers.”

The Zorns are longtime Playa Bowls fans, Zorn says.

“We were regulars at several Playa Bowls locations in Northern New Jersey, where we lived, and when we moved to Florida in 2021, we googled Playa Bowls to find a location, assuming there would be one, and there wasn’t.”

The Zorns are planning to help fix that. In addition to a second location in Jupiter, the couple has its sights set on Port St. Lucie, with an end goal of opening five or even ten locations total, possibly including some further south.

Playa’s healthy bowls are made with bases like açai, pitaya, coconut, chia pudding, and more. They come in varieties like Pura Vida (Pure acai topped with granola, blueberry, strawberry, honey), Hemp (Kale blend topped with granola, banana, blueberry, hemp seeds, agave), and Pink Power (Pitaya blend with vanilla protein topped with granola, banana, honey).

Zorn recommends the protein-packed Power Bowl and the Dolce Smoothie, with banana, chocolate protein, peanut butter, and coconut milk. The Zorn’s children, on the other hand, favor the Electric Mermaid Bowl (Playa Pitaya topped with granola, kiwi, pineapple, mango, coconut flakes, honey), while the most popular choice remains the Nutella Bowl.

The Zorns’ Jupiter Playa Bowls location is working toward an August opening.
