Located on the southwest corner of the intersection between Southwest 117th Avenue and Southwest 72nd Street, TJ Maxx Plaza will soon be home to a new family-owned and -operated Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Rubino’s Pizzeria e Ristorante will open at 7580 SW 117th Avenue, offering what owner and chef Brandon Mirarchi describes as “authentic Italian cuisine at a decent, fair price.”

What Now spoke on Monday with the chef, who studied at Johnson & Wales and has built culinary experience at a relatively young age, including at Ferrari’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant in Miami, which is also owned and operated by Mirarchi’s family.

“We’ve made a place that’s very welcoming,” Mirarchi said. “It has an elegant ambiance without being upscale to the point of fine dining.”

Rubino’s will offer 12, 14, or 16-inch New York-style pies and a restaurant menu featuring dishes that include risottos, fresh house-made pastas, and meat and fish choices like Bistec a Fiorentina from the grill. The space seats about 110 guests, including a bar with beer and wine. Seating will be exclusively indoors for the first few months after opening, Mirarchi says, but there are also plans for outdoor seating in the future.

“We’re looking forward to bring the community some great Italian food,” said Mirarchi.
