Fast casual franchise I Heart Mac & Cheese is currently growing all over Florida, with fourteen locations listed on the brand’s website as either open or under development. To these can be added a fifteenth: I Heart Mac & Cheese is also planning a location in Plantation, at 313 N University Dr, S5500, according to a recently submitted plan review.

“We owned a restaurant previously,” Gregory Schram, the franchisee for the location, told What Now on Thursday. Schram was looking for a change and ended up investing in the I Heart Mac & Cheese brand. “We chose I Heart Mac and Cheese because we love the company, we love the product, and we believe it’s got great potential.”

The mac and cheese chain takes a now-familiar build-your-own approach to the American comfort food classic, with guests choosing from bases like pasta, broccoli, cauliflower, tater tots, and quinoa and then packing their bowl with choices from a variety of proteins, cheeses, and vegetables.

There are also preimagined bowls like Buffalo Blue Mac & Cheese (Choice of your Base, with Chicken, Buffalo Sauce, Blue Cheese, Celery, and Carrots), Chicken Parmesan Mac & Cheese (Choice of Base, Chicken, Cheese Sauce, Marinara, Parmesan Cheese, Mozzarella Cheese, and Pesto), and Lobster & White Truffle Mac & Cheese (Choice of Base, with Lobster, Cheese Sauce, Lobster Cream, Muenster, Scallions, and White Truffle Oil).

The new location will feature both inside and outside seating, with indoor space for about 40 guests and outdoor space for 12-16. Schram says Plantation’s first I Heart Mac & Cheese is expected to open this fall.
