Launched in 2019, local healthy fast-food chain Holy Avocado weathered the pandemic years and continued to grow in popularity in the form of several food trucks before opening its current location at 645 W Hallandale Beach Blvd. Now, Holy Avocado is preparing to expand in South Florida and beyond.

“Holy Avocado began as a personal need for me,” owner Karla Ibarra told What Now on Tuesday. “I’ve been eating healthy for a long time, and when I was passing through somewhere and needed something fast, there was nothing.”

Holy Avocado’s menu was created in observance of the diet Ibarra’s mother, who is a cancer survivor, ate during her fight against the illness. Along with a variety of healthy ingredients (with special emphasis on the holy avocado), that means very little sugar and zero trans fats.

“A lot of the healthy options that have come up are casual and expensive. I wanted to create a healthy option that is still fast food, that is still at a budget people can afford. One where you’re not having to get rid of the burger, but you have burgers that are healthy, with organic lettuce and tomato, grass-fed beef, and all-organic sauces.”

Holy Avocado is preparing now to grow on several fronts. One front is a partnership with Veterans Hospitals throughout Florida: Holy Avocado will soon be providing healthy choices at Veterans hospitals in cities like Tampa, Jacksonville, and Daytona. On the brick-and-mortar front, Holy Avocado is preparing to launch a new location at 7780 Griffin Road in Davie. Ibarra says more brick-and-mortar locations are also in the works for South Florida.
