Founded in January 2003 as a pushcart vending operation, Sunset Slush opened its first shop in April 2008 and has been growing ever since. It now boasts more than 110 Independent Operators in eighteen states. Florida’s first Sunset Slush shop is now headed to Jupiter, and Independent Operator Christine Morell says the hope is to open more.

“We started as customers,” Morell told What Now on Monday, who is opening the Jupiter location together with her family. “We were on vacation in Hilton Head, and we stumbled across that location and tried the product for the first time. Before that, I don’t think we really understood what real Italian ice is like.”

Sunset Slush’s Classic Italian Ice® is “smooth, nutritious, thirst-quenching, dairy-free, low in calories, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and refreshing.” It comes in a wide variety of flavors, including—to name only a few—Blue Raspberry, Coconut Cream, Almond, Eggnog, Green Apple, and Ice Coffee.

The Jupiter location, which will open at 4300 U.S. Highway 1, Suite 205, comprises 1,800 square feet, including a small dining room. As its parking lot is often used as overflow parking for Juno Beach, there is sure to be no shortage of foot traffic. The interior also features a large mural.

“We brought in a mural artist. You won’t believe what they did,” Morell said.

The family already has a Sunset Slush cart operating, and Morell said the plan is to keep growing and bring more Italian ice to South Florida. Follow @sunsetslush_jup on Instagram to keep up with the opening and other local Sunset Slush news.
