Founded on the West Coast in 2015, boba tea chain Teaspoon has been expanding eastward, growing all over the country and reaching a total of 38 locations. It’s now heading to the state of Florida, where its first outpost will open in Deerfield Beach, at 3960 W Hillsboro Blvd.

Behind Teaspoon’s first Florida location are franchisees Audrey Gignac and Martin Robitaille, who are launching in Deerfield Beach with their sights set on possible future locations in locales like Coconut Creek and Boca Raton.

“We are aiming to open in late fall or early winter,” Robitaille told What Now on Friday, acknowledging that, when waiting on permits, it can be hard to know for sure when that opening day will be.

Teaspoon is famous for specialty drinks like Creamy Jasmine; the Ladybug, made with jade green tea and kumquat juice; and Liquid Gold, made with oolong tea topped with cream. Its menu also features familiar favorites like Taro milk tea and Thai tea. On the food side are pastries, cake, and macarons in a variety of flavors.

“We’re really excited to get up and running as soon as possible,” Robitaille said.

In addition to offering Teaspoon’s selection of boba tea drinks in its storefront, with seating for about twelve guests, Teaspoon Deerfield Beach will also provide catering services for special events.
